Hello! I’m Shavis Fredericks, a proud fisherman hailing from the serene shores of Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up amidst the vast rivers and lush landscapes, my days are spent casting nets and sharing stories with fellow fishermen. The aroma of freshly caught fish, prepared with spices and served with rice and peas, is a cherished part of my life. Whether it’s a quiet morning on the river or a bustling community gathering, the spirit of togetherness and hospitality is always present in our culture.
My roots run deep in Guyana, where the blend of indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences shapes our vibrant community. We celebrate our diverse heritage through food, music, and festivals, particularly during Phagwah and Mashramani, reflecting the rich traditions that unite us all. Although I currently reside in Guyana, I maintain a close connection to the Guyanese diaspora spread across the world, particularly those in the Caribbean, the UK, and the US, who share a love for our homeland’s unique culture and flavors.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
