Hello! My name is Shemesa James, and I proudly call River Curimeru Settlement in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a farmer, I have deep roots in the land, nurturing crops that sustain my community and contribute to the vibrant agricultural heritage of Guyana. From cassava to rice, the earth here is generous, and there’s nothing quite like sharing a meal of pepper pot or metemgee with family and friends after a hard day’s work in the fields. Our local cuisine is a reflection of our diverse cultures, bringing together flavors from Indigenous, African, and Indian influences, which I believe truly makes our food special.
