Hello! I’m Leonard Smith, a proud sawman from Upper Pom River, Siriki, deep in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant waterways of my homeland, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for the rich natural resources that our beautiful Guyana offers. Whether it’s the rhythmic sounds of the rivers or the gentle rustle of the palm trees, my connection to this place runs deep.
As a sawman, I take immense pride in my work, ensuring that every piece of timber is handled with care and respect. I often find myself reminiscing about the delicious cook-ups and pepperpot shared with family and friends, especially during the holidays. Those gatherings at the river’s edge, savoring the flavors of our local cuisine while laughing under the warm sun, are memories that I cherish dearly.
Though I may be far from my roots at times, I carry the spirit of Upper Pom River with me wherever I go. Whether it’s sharing stories of St. Monica or the beautiful landscapes of Karawab, I stay connected to my community and diaspora through the love of our culture. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
